Welcome to The Pen Of The Muses! The posts below are often about theological, philosophical, political, lit., or writing topics because that's what's really important to me and what I'm most excited about sharing. But I am human. Man lives not by deep theological concepts alone. Not everything I post will be weighty.

D.C. Salmon Summer 2012

So, as promised I'm writing a post about what I did this summer. Don't worry, I abridged the boring parts. ;)

End Of The Year Gathering:

I got a job working at Chick-fil-A:

Went to M-Fuge camp in Glorietta, NM:

Met the Phillipses as they traveled back from Dallas to California:

Did Omnibus V Secondary as a summer class:

(Hope does not like it when I try to take pictures of her..)

So, overall it was a great summer. I'm happy about all the new people I got to meet and I'm excited about this coming school year. :)

Fill in the blank!

Yes for Awesomeness Points. But only those in my Comp. II class will be able to answer this one, unless you're a *very* good guesser. :) In order to get all of these right you'll have to look at one of my recent Flash Forum posts.

Poor, unfortunate _____! Who could have know that when his ____ built the two ____ of ____ he made one with slightly less ___ then the other? Who could have foreseen that _____, desperate for _____, would betray his own son to a _____ grave? For when did any man see the crafty _____ scheming deep within the ______?  Did any here see the vile _____ enter his ___ as he realized that only ____ would escape more _____ then ____? Who knew that the pressure of _____ would eventually cause the gruesome ____ of such a _____, bright ___? No ____, ___ one, no one. No one but the debase ____ that could conceive such a ____ plan, then fain such ____ when it came to _____.

I love folding papers and things. ^_^

Anyone who has sat by me at a seminar, play, or Bible study will probably notice that I folded up my paper pretty quickly. If I don't desperately need a flier, agenda, or hand-out then it will soon become either a water balloon or one of various kinds of airplanes. Here's one example of some major-scale page folding:

It's just an abstract shape, nothing too impressive.. And I hope nobody needs that book on Constitutional Law for a while...

I would love to be able to do some of this later on:

Evolutionary Hymn (Lewis) & Analysis

Lead us, Evolution,lead us
Up the future's endless stair;
Chop us, change us, prod us, weed us.
For stagnation is despair:
Groping, guessing, yet progressing,
Lead us nobody knows where.

Wrong or justice, joy or sorrow,
In the present what are they
while there's always jam-tomorrow,
While we tread the onward way?
Never knowing where we're going,
We can never go astray.

To whatever variation
Our posterity may turn
Hairy, squashy, or crustacean,
Bulbous-eyed or square of stern,
Tusked or toothless, mild or ruthless,
Towards that unknown god we yearn.

Ask not if it's god or devil,
Brethren, lest your words imply
Static norms of good and evil
(As in Plato) throned on high;
Such scholastic, inelastic,
Abstract yardsticks we deny.

Far too long have sages vainly
Glossed great Nature's simple text;
He who runs can read it plainly,
'Goodness = what comes next.'
By evolving, Life is solving
All the questions we perplexed.

On then! Value means survival-
Value. If our progeny
Spreads and spawns and licks each rival,
That will prove its deity
(Far from pleasant, by our present,
Standards, though it may well be)

I love this poem because it makes fun of the blind "patriotism" that evolutionists sometimes give to the random changes of evolution. Also it shows how the evolutionary view doesn't have anywhere for morality. If you think about it, according to evolution: survival is the only thing that matters. Obviously. It says,"We're all just animals fighting tooth and claw to survive."  In the evolutionary world-veiw there is no room for morality-There's no place for it to come from. If we're all just animals nobody can come and impose a law of morality on anybody else because we're all on the same level.

And that's why we get our standards of morality from a higher source: God. He clearly sets out standards for us in The Bible. Unfortunately, because we're fallen we don't have the ability to follow those standards anymore. And that's why we need Jesus Christ to restore our shattered relationship with God.
